Donna McVey
My Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is informed by over 20 years experience as a yoga teacher, personal trainer, and massage therapist.
I have additional skills in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) based Hypnotherapy which can be useful when combined with a range of modalities and other interventions like CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). This integrative approach offers practical tools in overcoming various challenges including fear, phobias and decision making.
In 2001, I made the move from hospitality management into the world of health, fitness and wellbeing. Since then I have worked as a Personal Trainer, Sports Therapist, Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher.
I trained with Paul McKenna in Neuro Linguistic Programming & Hypnotherapy and in more recent years, after some life changing events, I spent almost three years studying and achieved a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Throughout my own life, I have faced and overcome numerous adverse experiences. These personal challenges have provided me with invaluable insights and a deep understanding of the resilience of the human spirit.
Overcoming such challenges, some with the support of a good counsellor, I can empathise and understand what it takes take reach out for help.
Everyone’s life experience is unique, but empathy and understanding without judgement at times where we might feel vulnerable or lost, can add humanity and integrity to the nurturing and caring environment provided in counselling.
